I have a chrysler 60 hp outboard, model 608H4C,serial number 1250. I would like to know the year of the engine. I purchaed a repair manual and know that it had to be between 1974-78 or 1984. It was running pretty good last year and the secong time I took it out this year when I advance the throttle the engine would buck before it caught but once it did it ran very good, in fact even better than last year. I went to take it out over the week end, the engine started with no problem but when I advanced the throttle the engine revved but the propeller did not engage. I tried reverse and it worked fine. Any ideas would be appreciated and if anyone knows where I can get parts would also help.<br />Thanks.

Re: chrysler 60 info

guessing the shift dog is worn -- sometimes not engaging. I suggest getting a manual that shows a blowup of the lower unit (Clymer does), then deciding whether pulling it apart and fixing it is something you want to take on or pay a mechanic to handle.
