Bought this motor for next to nothing and figured it was worth the time to tinker with. Now I'm not sure. Wasn't getting spark after a sheared key but after replacing the key and the ignition system I'm now getting nothing but backfires and smoke. Cranks for two or three seconds, backfires, then I let off the starter. Further attempts to crank yield smoke and another backfire or two. Any adjustments in timing don't make much of a difference.
