I have a 1969 273 Chrysler inboard. If I buy a 318 long block, will things like the starter, intake, exhaust, etc bolt right over. Thanks

Re: Chrysler 273 vs 318

Great. So I can get a 360 long block and use the 273 accessories. Nice. I have a 1969 273, do you know the year range that is compatible? Lots of people offer 1970 or 1971 360 long blocks. Would they work?

Thanks very much, very helpful.

Re: Chrysler 273 vs 318

any Chrysler Small block will work in replacement of the 273. As long as it matches the rotation of your 273. (standard or reversed) If you go the 360 route you will have to watch out for a few other things since the 360 is externally balanced you woul dneed a different harmonic balancer and flywheel. Also the oil pan is different for the 360 as well. A 318 and 340 are almost identical to the 273 just a different internal bore, even the cranks and rods are all the same dimensions and can be interchanged if needed. i am upgrading from a 340 to the 360 in my boat but I am getting a complete 360 pullout with everything attached.
