Can anyone provide detailed procedure (Or a source for this information) for removing the flywheel from a 74 Chrysler 10HP outboard, Model 104HA. This is the unit with the Starter/Generator mounted on top of the crankshsft. I removed the Generator by removing the center bolt. This left a fairly long extension on the crankshaft. I found no retaining nut on the flywheel and flywheel is not drilled or threaded for puller bolts. How does one get the flywheel off? Thanks!

I looked through my Seloc manual and even though it's supposed to cover your motor I did not see what you describe. I can tell you how I get mine off because there's no way to put a puller on it. I loosen the flywheel nut on the crankshaft so that I can tap it with a hammer w/o boogering up the end of the crankshaft. Then I take and firmly but carefully pry up on the edge of the flywheel while I tap the nut on the crankshaft. Then I rotate the flywheel a few degrees and repeat until it comes off. I take my time getting it off rather than beat it senseless. You might want to wait on some better advice though, maybe you'll find someone here that's worked on your type of motor.

You need a pry bar and a hammer. Do the nut thing like i386 says, but in your case it will be a bolt. GENTLY put the prybar between the top of the block and the bottom of the flywheel with the keyway in line with the prybar. Be warned that what you are prying on is a water jacket part of the casting. It's not a strong base to pry on. The hammer is doing the work, not the prybar. Put some light pressure on the flywheel with the prybar and rap the bolt with the hammer. Start with light taps and get successively harder until it pops and don't get carried away. The prybar will let you know when the flywheel pops loose. With that shaft above, it won't move very much. Once you feel that flywheel give, lift it off.
