The shiny finish on my wheels has been rusted. I have been able to take it off with some never dull. However, now I am left with little black spots on my wheels. I am thinking of getting some of that rustoleum chrome paint and trying it. Are there any other alternatives that may be better???

Thanks,

Try some brillo soap pads or some real fine steel wool then spray with some spam cooking oil then rub real good with cloth

once u get them clean.spray some clear coat on them to help stop the rust.DONT use paint it will never look like chrome then you will have to work to get that off.try some navel jelly i think thats what its called its pink liquid that you let sit on the rust and it will clean it off.the only problem is every place you have black the chrome is gone it will never be shiny in them areas.but if they are small just clear coat the whole wheel from far you will never tell.

Re: Chrome wheels rusting

I just painted my aluminum rims using rustoleum. I used the special Al primer and then finished them with gloss white. They came out remarkably good. I brushed it on rather than sprayed and they came out better for it I think. You can't see brush marks (which surprised me.)

If you decide to go for it and use that Rustolem chrome paint please post your results - I am curious to hear how they come out.
