I was listening to Greg Knapp on the way home this afternoon and he had a really great local story.

A 28 year old Marine was shopping for an engagement ring and had a conversation with a woman. The woman came from a military family and they had a good conversation.

The Marine had to open a line of credit for $3k to get the ring. After he left, the woman paid off his note. She has asked to remain anonymous, so no one knows who she is.

Now that is the Christmas spirit. :) I hope she gets her good deed returned ten fold.

Re: Christmas spirit lives

This year I got a gift certificate in the mail from "santa clause" for $200 to the local grocery store. No name but I think I know who sent it. They know I would turn it down if they put a name on it. The card said "we appreciate all you do".
Turns out all officers in the county got the same. Very kind!
It helped my family a lot, but I wish I had the chance to turn it down, don't feel right taking it.

DD, I used to feel like that also. I love to give to others, but it is always hard to recieve. Then a wise person sat me down and had a talk with me about how I felt when someone accepted a gift from me vs. how I felt if that gift was turned down. After all, I would not have offered the gift if I really did not want them to accept it. Once this person got me to put my feet in the other person's shoes I feel I have become a better giver AND reciever!

God Bless you, and enjoy your certificate - you made someone very happy by using it!

I used it, but made certain I did not waste any of it on chips or cookies. All hamburger, fruit and veggies. I placed a very small ad in the cards of thanks section of the lcoal paper. Our local paper is about 6 pages long, so someone will see it. I simply said thanks to Santa from me and my family, you don't know how much your kindness was appreciated.

It gets me a little paranoid when people are nice to me :D
