Christmas gift for your mom

OK, I know this is kinda late but I'm still pondering what to get for my mom. She's in her 60's and has everything. I can take the easy route and do the gift card thing but it not like she needs money. Unless, I give a boat load which I don't have. I can just ask her what she wants but she'll just say she don't want anything. What were some of your creative gifts for your mom?

I have exactly the same problem and she's the same age.... One thing I was going to do was give her a gift certificate to the hair salon. I guess she wanted a perm b/4 they head out to Hawaii in Jan. Unfortunately, my dad already took care of it......

Arrange a date.

Schedule a day that you take Mom for a pedicure/manicure, beauty salon or maybe a massage, lunch at a nice place and possibly shopping. If you devote an entire day to having her pampered and with you as an escort...... she will never forget it.

Absolutely beats gift cards or certificates hands down ;)

Elderly parents always appreciate intimate personal communication most of all.

Bob's suggestion is a good one. Another is a carefully written letter of thanks for your life and how she contributed to it.

After all, the most important "thing" most of us do in our lives is to bring children into the world and nuture them into adults in whom we can take pride. They are our immortality, and evidence that we did a good job is the greatest gift our descendants can give us.

I picked out a selection of some of the best beef I have ever tasted.
Grown and processed locally, aged to perfection, vacuum packed.

2 t-bones, 6 sirloins, 4 beautiful chuck roasts.

That was the best gift we ever gave our parents. We live 2,000 miles away and they live for photographs. Niether his parents or mine are very computer savvy but they sure can stick those little memory cards in the side of the frame.

We update the memory cards every Christmas!

Great Idea!:)

We like to put together a photo album of all the kids and grand kids. With the computers and different programs it is pretty easy and inexpensive. And who doesn't know a Mom that doesn't like to brag about the kids and grand kids???

My wife took my mom shopping and bought her something (I have no idea what, but it was clothes of some sort). But my mom and wife like each other (weird, I know).

Like the photo idea. Few years back we video-taped a family reunion and I spent two months merging it and some pictures into a dvd. My mom still cries when she watches it.

I like the elec. photo frame idea. I live about 20 miles away and I see her often so I don't know if she would wants to see my ugly mug everyday. I might just do it anyway. :D

Mine will gat a web-cam and software. She lives very far away, and misses my children, my brothers children etc.

Now they will be able to chat face to face as often as she likes.

This won't work for everyone but a couple years ago I drove to the small college (Aquinas) my mom graduated from and bought her a sweater, towel coffee mug and such. I was stunned at how much she liked it.
She graduated in the late forties and I don't think she'd thought about the place in years.
Good luck and Merry Christmas.
btw I hit this thread hoping for a good idea for this year:cool:!

Perhaps slippers and or a housecoat. Maybe her favourite candy/chocolates. Or a nice picture of your family. Maybe some nice bubble bath/soaps. Just my two cents worth.

Last year we did the photo frames and both sets of parents loved it, this year we kept it really simple. On the walmart website, you can upload photos of your kids or whatever and have them put on a calendar. They then mail the calendar to whomever you choose.

I like the letter suggestion..Or perhaps a video taped speech where you recollect those moments in your life where she impacted you and helped mold you into the man that you are today...

She may have forgotten the simplest statement or action on her part, but may have effected you and your decision making for years to come..

My Mother passed away about 10 years ago....I was able to do this for her before she left us...It was one of the most touching moments we ever shared..My Father & Sisters never took the time to do this, and I know they wish they had...

Also..

I REALLY did not mean to darken up this thread...Sorry if it's a wet blanket!
