1975 johnson 50, choke solenoid stopped working. I took it off, and it will actuate if applied to 12v power. How do I determine if it's the power pack or the toggle switch on the control box that's causing the problem? Or could it be something else? Details about how to diagnose would be greta.

Thanks!

Re: choke solenoid

Greta is a great person,I'll introduce her sometime.

Your choke is powered by the toggle sitch, and has nothing to do with the power pack.

Also there is linkage at your carb that can be set to manual choke, automatic choke,or no choke. In anything but 'automatic' the solenoid won't function.

Also your choke is electricaly setup to automatically partially choke when cold and the key is turned to 'on' (not your problem ,in this case)

Hope this helps, and dosen't confuse.A manual with wiring diagram will help.

DHP
