Choke info

Thanks for the help on my last post about my motor. As I now know its a 1966 Johnson 80.<br />near the throttle lever there is a choke lever.<br />Also near my key switch is a choke switch. My question is what is the difference do they work differently, used together or what.<br />pardon my ignorance.

Muz, the "choke lever" will be for manual choke and the one next to the key switch will be for electric choke if it is working.<br />Turn key on and hit the choke switch. You should be able to hear the choke shut, or better still take engine cover off and if possible look at choke plate/s on carbs to see that they close when you hit that switch.

Good point rick. Never thought of it. :confused: <br />Thought maybe he was talking about someplace close to the engine.<br /><br />That is more than likely what it is, a warm up/fast idle lever.
