chocolate milk on starter bolts

I just replaced my starter ( 10 minutes ago) and the bolts had "chocolate milk" on them. As near as I could tell, the inside of the starter was dry. No chocolate milk on the "gear." It was hard to see the flywheel other than the few teeth I could see. No water in the oil, level was normal. No water in the bilge. Should I be shiatting myself or can I relax? Thanks,
George
EDIT: I recently had the upper unit replaced, could that have been a possible source?

If the tech did the repair first thing one morning, I guess he could have spilled some of his chocolate milk on your bolts as he was looking it over, while finishing breakfast.

:D :D

Yeah, I called the mechanic and he said he was drinking chocolate milk....
Seriously, no one can offer any insight into this?

You need to check the engine oil and outdrive oil, I'd even go as far as to remove the rocker cover and take a peek. See any milk?

If the answer is no, it's probably from condensation and blowby - is the vent tube nearby?

If yes, you got a leak in the outdrive or headgasket problems etc...... :(

Aldo

Thanks for the ideas, Aldo. Oil in the engine and OD checks out good. I don't think it is blowby because the vent tube is on top of the motor on the opposite side.
I can not imagine why anything would be on the threads of the starter bolts....
George

Sure it's not just "Never Seize" or something the mechanic may have put on the bolts for future servicing?

It very well may be. I don't have the experience to know what it was. Like I said, there was nothing in the starter/fly wheel that I could see.
Come to think of it, the starter bolts did come loose without too much trouble.
George
