Re: chickened out

I think discretion is the better part of valor ... Wise choice not to launch ... Still have 7 inches of ice in the main channel, the coves and ramps have much more ice ...

I really wanted to splash, its been many months:blue: its hard to see from the pictures, but there were so many logs it was like a old time timber operation:facepalm: and some icebergs looked like they could sink the titanic, some stairs and some ones dock on the far side, I will have to learn where the submerged stuff is before I open her up this spring:bolt: till then I will putt

A wise man gets to launch another day. You made the right choice to leave the boat on the trailer. Nasty, nasty!

There is an old saying in aviation that it is better to be on the ground wishing you were in the sky than be in the sky and wishing you were on the ground. You made the right choice.

Re: chickened out

I met a guy and his wife they where standing by the ramp, he said I wouldn't put that boat in here today. I looked at the logs floating by, and told him I was desperate, not foolish. we chatted for a hour or so while the wives chatted too(made friends) he told me where he likes to beach his boat up the river to have cookouts, said to stop by for some grub if I seen him there, described his boat so I would know, I will stop by if I see him, maybe share some beverages I allways have on board:D then after saying good bye see you on the river, he went to watch stuff go over the dam, and the wife and I took a nice walk up the c & o towpath where I took pictures, so it was an ok day anyway though I didn't get to float

Sort of did the same thing being as the sun was out drove by my lake to see if it was still ice covered, the 2 hard rains and a week of sun has melted it, so their is a light at the end of the tunnel and i dont think its a on coming train.
