Re: Chicago float Charger?????

No, but the idea of "float" charging a battery has been around a long time. I remember when I was a kid, they had batteries in racks near the front glass of the buildings at gasoline filling stations (petrol to you Dee 8) ).

Hooked to this rack of batteries was a trickle (float) charger that connected to every battery in the rack to keep them topped off.

Today they don't do that and when you get your new battery the first thing you have to do is to charge it up.

I think built in chargers (in the boat) have that function also.

Have 8 in use right now........work just fine. Used 2 years now. Keep my Harleys on all year, as can't use them enough, my big boat has 1 one each battery now, other batts under the bench all have one on, etc. Holds the voltage to the batt at 13.20 to 13.50...the sweet spot. VERY LITTLE amps, won't boil water out. Do it.

Do we use ANY float chargers, or the HF specifically?
I, & a few around me use a float charger we get at O Rielys.
I hope the HF brand works better than their usuall junk. BUT I really don't know.
The ones we use work great.o:)

Electricity is stupid. Goes where sent. HF has them on sale for 5 now. Sure ya can get expensive, but I've found they work fine. My Harley bagger wouldn't start after 2 weeks with the extra doodads draining the batt. Zero prob since I hooked up the HF Float. Proof enough for me. Bought them for everything. Make sure ya check the water occasionally though, charge on or not.

Anyone notice the HF has two of these that appear identical? One comes up searching float and one by searching chargers. Part numbers are 41288 for 17 and 42292 for 7.5 ?
