Re: Chevy Driveshaft
Instead of categorizing me as someone who does not "like to do things the correct way" why don't give me knowledgeable advice instead of your ignorant comments. Your post added no new insight Bondo, so thank you for wasting my time.
Ayuh,....... I'm Sorry Mark,..... If you don't particularly care for Brutal Honesty,.....
I'll refrain from commenting on any posts by yourself,....... Ever Again......
I call it the way I see it,.....
The threads were definetly gummed up. The problem was that the shaft and the bolts were out of the truck for over a year. In that time I think that moisture and junk built up inside and rusted the threads
If you'd have
STOPPED right there,+ Done what you're about to do Now,......
You Wouldn't be doing This,.......
Why is there never enough time to do it right the first time,
But always enough time to do it again?
A 5/16" bolt is Tight at 25ft.lbs...... It takes alittle more than twice that to Twist 1 Off......
With you Knowing the threads were All Boogered Up,+ you did Nothing about it but just Cram the bolt into the Mess,.....
And Then, Torque it to Failure,..??..??
I can now tell you that you should be looking for a New Yoke,......
Your lefthanded drill bit will probably do little or Nothing to get the broken pieces Out, as they're firmly planted into the Boogered Up threads.......
Your Best Chance at saving the Yoke is to pull it off, Drill all the way thru the broken pieces,....
Heat the ears with the broken bolts in it,+ Quench it with Cold Water,.....
Then try to remove the broken pieces with plenty of penetrating oil....
Otherwise,......
Run over to your local Parts House,+ Buy a New Yoke,......
It shouldn't set you back more than $30./ $50.......
Good Day,+ Good Bye.........
