How much to replace/complete an early 80's Chevy 350 rebuild that needs- Block, Crank, Pistons, and Rods? The lower short block is complete, as well as outdrive. I have exp. w/land motors and will attempt to repair/replace myself, possibly find used parts. I can buy this boat for a song, but I do not want an engine project over $1000 to complete. Any idea on costs to complete motor?

I would go to a local auto parts store(one of the big chain stores) and buy a remanufactured long block (complete engine).. About $750 for small block chevy.. I would not use it in salt water without fresh water cooling though.. :)

Can fresh water cooling be hooked up to an I/O? How?
