chevy 350,idles fine,wont take a load

Volvo-chevy 350,replaced plugs,wires,points,condensor,cap,and rotor. Have rechecked firing order,dwell at idle is right at 30 degrees,and timing is right on. I also winterized a 120 gallon tank with only a 1/4 tank,and i must say,i cant remember if i added any stabilizer! Engine starts better than ever,idles perfect,everything fine up to about 2500 rpms,then breaks up,seems to pop through carb,and i cant get any more rpms out of it.I replaced fuel/water seperator,and no differance.Think its bad gas??<br />Thank You all.

Try running engine hooked up to a portable gas tank by-passing main tank.Check the one way flow gas fitting usually on top of main tank ,if you have a leaf in main tank it can shut off pick-up tube.Check filter at carb if you have a rochester.Try some carb cleaner while running and keep fire extinguiser handy.

suggestion, drain the fuel tank and put in fresh gas, i had the same problem and am now rebuilding my chev/omc 350 due to detination of two cylinders. fuel is a lot cheaper than an engine.

If it turns out the gas is ok, check to see that your timing is advancing properly and that your carb. isn't leaning out (gummed up from sitting).

It's a longshot but I've seen leaky risers do that too. As the rpms increase it starts to push the water into the exhaust.
