Hey guys, Im obtaining my grandfathers 87' Chevy 1500 Custom Deluxe this Spring. I know it needs two tires and the 4x4 drive shaft so I want to start looking for them now so come spring I might have gotten them for a good price. SO my question is what size tires would I need on stock rims, and also what was the lug pattern for this vehicle. Its a 3/4 ton 4x4. I was also wondering if anyone knew what the 4x4 front driveshaft length would be for it. I know you may say go look and measure, but the trucks 3 hrs away and the granparents are in FL. Thanks, Marcus

Ayuh,......... So Which Is it,..??..??..

A 1500 series is a 1/2 ton truck,.......
A 3/4 ton is a 2500 series..........

The answers to your questions will change depending on Which it is.......

Re: Chevy 1500 wheels?

Ayuh,...... It that case,.....

The Wheels are 16" wheels with an 8 hole bolt pattern.....
Chevy uses a Small center hole,+ Everybodyelse uses a Larger center hole,....
So,.........
About Any 8 bolt wheel from Pre-turn of the century will bolt Right On,+ run Perfectly......

This is only because I know Ford,+ possibly others went to a Metric pattern sometime shortly after the turn of the century,....
And they Don't Fit the older style Non-Metric hubs......
1 more note,..... there are some 16.5" wheels,+ tires still kicking around,...
But they're Outdated.....
If by chance that's what you've got, I'd up-date to the 16" 1s, as the 16.5" tires are getting Insanely Expensive.......

Tire size is Probably R285/85/16LT,... But without Looking, you won't know for Sure........

And,..... For the Driveshaft,.......
1 from a like Vintage junker, with the Same Wheelbase,.... Should fit......

"Should" is the key word in that statement.............

I think for a front driveshaft, the wheelbase will not matter.
But it might make a difference if it is a V8 or L6 or automatic or stick shift.

Never ever seen a 3/4 ton GM truck with anything other than 8 lug wheels.
