chevrolet 350 inboard engine problem

The engine will start at half throttle, but just chugs and then quits. Its not the carburator as we rebuilt it and tested it on the other engine. Its also getting spark. Any ideas?

A big vacuum leak will do that also. If you can get somebody to work the throttle and keep it running at a lowish RPM, spray WD-40 or carb cleaner all around the intake manifold gaskets and every hose/connection to the intake manifold, base of carb gasket, etc. If the WD-40 gets sucked in somewhere you'll hear a very noticeable change in the engine's idle.
