Okay 3 of us purchased a 30 foot fairliner.
The motor has not been started for 1 year.
We changed the plugs, used fresh gas and fired her up just to hear her running. It ran for 2 seconds and died. We kept trying and same thing. It fires up and dies after 2 seconds. We poured gas directly into the carb and still the same thing.
So we had a mechanic friend come over and he said we needed new points and condenser. They are being picked up as I type.
We had an intermittent spark problem. Sometimes we had spark and sometimes we did not that is why the fellow said to get points and condenser.
I mentioned to the guys that we should pull the carb and clean it out. It probably has some gas gumed up in there somewhere.
They said, let's just start it and get it running first.
Does anyone think that we are going in the right direction doing it the way we are doing it? If not, can someone point me in the right direction. I'm with those guys about getting it fired up, but I want to check the carb.
Any help is much appreciated.
Bro Chris...

wehat your describing sounds like the ign circuit to the coil positive is failing. it will start up on the resistor bypass circuit and die about the time they keyswitch is set back to run.check the coil primary circuits very close.
good luck and keep posting

Sounds just like my 350 when the ignition module went bad. It would start then die. Mine is a '95 350 with a Thunderbolt IV ignition.
