Unit is 2002 Marine AIRRRRRR - 9000 BTU ,
I have 15 lbs of R 22 in a cylinder ,
Last season buddy ( mobile boat repair ) put a few ounces and it ran fine ,
This year same issue , He cussed up a storm saying what a Bitc__ getting too those fittings
THis time around I am doing myself , Never noticing what gauges he used , Before I jump into this , guauges I have I use for auto ,
Moved unit , almost out of boat , holding back since some a/c is better then none , clearly
see the fittings ,
Are fittings universal ? Wll auto fit over marine fittings ? or special fitting needed for marine application ? Special fitting needed too attach from gauge hose too a/c unit , one that was on was for 134 A auto a/c . Will get back during week ,
what should high read ?
what should low read ?
should unit be running when filling and what psi is full . Dont want too over fill ,

Knowing its time too replace , New units for my application are back ordered and nothing
coming in until next month
They are basically out of the box just hook up elec and vent , water lines ,
appreciate any info this way I have everything before returning too boat

first, fittings and gauges are specific to the type of refrigerant. R134a has R134a fittings and the gauges are color coded slightly different than R12 (as far as the red/green areas if they are color coded. R22 and R410a are generally for refrigerators and residential HVAC.

the manifold and the hoses are the same across the industry, just the hose end fittings

do your research on-line. there are plenty of bits of information. including the refrigeration tables.

however if you have to add any freon, your system has a leak. why not simply fix the leak and then go from there. normally its the compressor seal, could be the valve.
