this whole idea started when I bought a $80 inflatable dinghy from Canadian tire like 5-6 years ago, it had a pretty impressive weight capacity so I bought a 55lbs minnkota and battery, rigged up transom with wood and steel tubing with ends flattened. me and my buddy are both over 200lbs, we both squeezed in with the battery in between us and feet in the water and went a few km straight out into lake Ontario
, was the best thing ever. anyways the pics below is the home made custom motor mount for the sevylor hf360 the whole rig not including gas or floor weighed 105 lbs, the boat was rated for 1200, i spray-painted the boat camo (mistake) and used 3/4 inch plywood backed with two 8' 1x1 heavy gauge steel tubing because the boat wanted to fold down when any throttle was applied, the transom is 1/2inch lexan with metallic black aluminum trim. i had a trailer winch with 100' steel cable, that was interesting, took the nut off the handle so when u want to drop it u just put it in neutral and pull handle off(very loud). had a car sterio with 2 downward facing midrange speakers under steel console. the boat was great in terrible waters, we got soaked head to toe with ruined ciggarets but it never came close to tipping, i took it rafting when there was a flood down the creek with no motor and ripped bottom out of it, the creek ran into lake Ontario and it was about 3 km we had to paddle back to the path to get the truck. never replaced it because i felt silly in it, so i just used the metal for inside of new work truck and that's it.
