oh man....notice it was on a Tuesday? All the times I've told my wife I'm skipping Sunday Mass so I can worship @ "Our Lady of the Salmon Run", or "St. Columbia River." And I've even "prayed" when, say, I lost a lure....

I'd better shape up....

Large Wallies like that are only good for the wall. The best eaters are the 1-2 yr old class.

what is the minimum size of walleye you are allowed to keep where you fish? If you get caught with 1-2 yr old walleye at most lake I fish all you will be left with is a hefty fine.

Walleye in Canada grow much slower than more southern climates...In the Ks, Ne. areas, a 2 yr old will be about 13-15", maybe 16" if conditions and massive amounts of forage are available. Up north, it may take 4 years to reach 15", but the fish also live longer there.
18lb. 3oz. is a big wally....
When setting funnel nets in SW Nebraska 4 yrs ago this spring, we were rewarded with a 19lb. 5oz. female-3lbs over the state record. of course it was measured, weighed, scale sample taken and released.
A fish above 12-13lbs in this region has very few eggs at spawning time due to age, and 300-500 eggs total is about ave. for that same fish here. 4-8lb'ers are the money bags when it comes to number of eggs produced...in northern climates, it may be that females of 12-14lbs. are the "heavy" egg layers there.
