Not quite as cheap, but still in the low price bracket, Wakeboard, is to smooth, polish and wax your hull.

Good luck.

Red sky at night. . .

JB

Is there a problem with your boat? Or are you just not satisfied with its overall performance?

Personally, I think the cheapest, easiest route is to clean up your boat, sell it, and buy something else. [

Kevin...

Didn't you recently submit a post complaining of lousy fuel economy on this unit? And now you want to know how you can increase horsepower?? hee, hee... Dude, make up your mind!! Trust me...you can't have both!!!

Years ago, I asked my cousin...an excellent Merc tech with a rather dry sense of humor...how I could increase the horsepower of my 305 MerCruiser. He said it was a simple procedure. Take off the spark arrestor and start jamming $20 bills down the carb!!

I recently repowered and stepped up to a 350. I can tell ya this much...his suggestion would have been a lot easier and a heck of a lot less expensive! But like they say...there's no substitute for cubic inches!!

Just try to keep those secondaries closed as much as possible (yeah, right) and enjoy your boat!!

Walt

Oh...one more thing.

Get yourself this sticker and place it on your boat's dash where your friends are sure to see it:

THIS BOAT RUNS ON GAS, NOT "THANKS"!!

Walt

Walt, I will have to disagree. I think there are some substitutes for cubic inches. You could bolt on a supercharger, provided they make one to work with that 5 liter. Nitros Oxide is not a bad substitute. Of course engine probably won't last long. These two will boost you up to at least whatever a 350's gonna put out. Overall I guess the 350 would probably be cheaper & more reliable. Since the exhaust isn't restricted, and their is no air filter to speak of, the next best thing without tearing out the engine would be a carb, but it will probably run ya bout 400, 300 at very least. Then your gas bill will go up again. Better just wax the bottom and take a few girls with ya. They don't seem to have the need for speed we do, and they will be something to look at.

Contrary to popular opinion, I believe sanding the v-shaped high speed surface area, with #600 increases performance, sanding strokes would be parallel with the length of boat. Just going on memory here, I would have to dig around quite a bit to find the literature, anyone care to elaborate?

Kev..I would GIVE away 20 pounders of NOS if I new they were comin back to my shop! To heck with the motors, the drive work alone would keep me busy!

Re: cheapest way to add horse power?

Ok crazyman, we really don't wanna put NOS or a blower on a 5 liter boat engine, I was kiddin. Never been going 40 on a wakeboard, and wouldn't be scared to, but I would be scared to slap my face on the water. I don't think it's very safe, but ask crom, I'm sure he's done it.
