You should be able to change the low battery setting to a lower value, or turn it right off.

Jim

If you only have one battery its most likely droping the voltage to low during cranking

You need a real meter not a test light you can connect it to the battery and watch the voltage drop when starting

tommays

Depending on the size of your batt and drain from accessories I'd go with a seperate batt. for electronics & starting. This is the setup I run. I use the same FX324C GPS. A nice little unit I think. All the same combining the costs and constant use of electronic versus the cost of a battery and swich that would both solve your problem and give you more reliable power on the water. the conversion was not too difficult.

Re: chartplotter keeps shutting down

If your battery is in good shape, you shouldn't be dropping enough voltage on start up to shut you GPS off, provided your starting circuit is in good shape also. Check your ground connections at the battery and starter, sounds like you have excessive voltage drop on starting, unless that model GPS does have a sensitivity setting and you can adjust it. But you do need to use a meter, a light will not be able to show you a 1 or 2 volt difference, and that could make all the difference.

Re: chartplotter keeps shutting down

i have dual batteries and i think the one battery has the red and black wires go to a fuse panel in the overhead console box and then the chartplotter is hooked to this panel,,the other things that run off that fuse panel do not seem to be bothered by it i charged both batteries overnight they are rather new i will check to see if there is a adjustment on the unit itself,,i will also get a meter and let you know thanks

Re: chartplotter keeps shutting down

The only time I experienced this "shut down during start up" was in (emergency parralel or Both) mode and there was an issue with the connection to my house banks. In essence evrything was running from my start battery and even my FF experienced the same sg=hut down. After I cleared up the connection problem the unit never shut down on me again.
