The admiral and I are planning a one week trip, from Charleston to Jekyll Island, in April or May, and would like to know if anyone can provide information on where to put in, store the trailer/tow vehicle and where to pull out. The plan is to launch in Charleston, run down the ICW to Jekyll Island and pull out somewhere in that area. I have a friend that will pickup the truck and trailer and deliver it to Jekyll Island so it's a one way trip by boat.

The boat is a 26' flybridge cruiser, that weighs in about 7000 lbs. and the tow vehicle is an F250 Super Duty with a tri-axle trailer. I'm usually okay with most ramps, but occasionally I run into a steep ramp that causes me problems, so my preference would be to find ramps that are reasonably flat.

Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks,
Pat

Register on CoastalOutdoors.com and ask there, you'll quickly get a consensus on what ramp is suitable ... ;)

Average tide change is 5 foot. lots of 6 foot ones and a few at 7 feet. flat ramps will not work. Some times you can find the 7 or or 8 foot drop stretched over 30 feet but that is rare. My F150 2 wheel drive with open gears will do 7000. Couple of times I had the boat give me a push to get things going.

I will second the join coastal outdoors forum, there are several members there from that area that can advise you well. I am not close enough to help, if you were in the Midway/Sunbury area I may be able to help. I am a member of http://www.coastaloutdoors.com/ibf/index.php? , and can tell you there is a lot of local knowledge on that forum. It is a family oriented forum that is dedicated to fishing and a few other things. In no way am I trying to get you away from iboats, there is no better place to be, they have a lot of info here and a lot of people ready to help with most of your problems.

Thanks guys, I'll have to check out Coastal Outdoors. BTW, does anyone know if the Charleston City Marina has a ramp, or are they just forklift or sling?
