dennisr, Its a common type ,stator producing an AC voltage then rectified thru a selenium (not diodes in your eng.)rectifier that changes AC to DC volts.

I think by 1967 they were using diodes. Either way it's a full wave bridge rectifier. No regulator.<br /><br />-W

you can get replacement rectifiers after you fry yours( which you will, eventually) at radioshack for $3.29. tell the mercury dealer to go jump in a lake when they tell you they want $40.00 for a new "mercury" rectifier<br /><br />m ikey
