Hi All<br />I have a Evinrude #60173 year: 1971 HP: 60 hydro electric I replaced the rectifier 2 yellow wires one red ,hooked red to red and paper with part said 2 yellows didnt matter ran engine at idle one yellow was reading 17v on my meter and other 10v my battery before start was reading 12.29 after start at battery 12.5 to 13v does this sound normal to you guys? also wierd i was reading voltage on the engine itself anywhere i put my meter to metal ?<br />Thanks all.

12.5 to 13 volts at idle is OK. You did have your meter set for AC when checking the yellow wires didn't you?

Remember, voltage going to the rectifier/regulator is alternating current, which can kill you plaenty bad. If the volt meter is on DC testing AC, it can give a screwy reading. Byt the way, how's the fishin up your way?
