OK, Im making new posts per question on my new engine.

Regarding the charging system: with the engine running, I noticed that the voltmeter on the dash sometimes indicates ~15 volts, and other times, just the battery 12 volts. I have not corallated this with the engine speed yet, but does this sound right? or should there always be a higher voltage indicated when the engine is running? (the batterys - which are new last year, were dead when I got the thing)

Thanks

You will see an increase in voltage as RPMs increase.

You will see an increase in voltage as RPMs increase.

It can be as low as 12.5 volts at full speed if the battery is pretty empty. As the battery charges, it can rise to as high as 16 volts. 14.5 is pretty typical.

hope it helps
