Charging system 8hp Tohatsu

Since my 1998 2 stroke 8hp merc is a Tohastu, will these charging system parts work on it? I ask this because the Merc parts are no longer available.

I did a search on this, and I know I've read it here before, but I couldn't find it.

What years did Tohatsu build the small Mercs? I need to add the charging coil to my 8HP Merc and the parts are NLA from from Merc. If these Tohatsu parts will fit I can get them easily.

Mercury had a joint venture with Yamaha, now has a joint venture with Tohatsu in Japan, probably a disguised Yam.

Now the search is on for the Merc parts.

It's interesting that people worry about getting Tohatsu parts and not at all about Mercury parts. I can find Tohatsu parts for my Mercs that are Tohatsus easliy, but Mercs built Merc have many NLA parts.
