I have a 2001 Honda 90hp with a few issues.
First off, the motor spent 3 days in the ocean and a dealer got it going again. It has been running well for 3 years since.
Issues:
It appears the battery may not be getting charged. When I turn the key it just clicks. I can however pull start it and it runs fine (doesn't it need power from the altenator to run?). After 20-30min of runtime it still cannot restart. I talked to the dealer and they said they have never had an Alternator go bad. However, I charged the battery in my garage and then it seemed fine. Could this be anything else besides the alternator?
I removed the starter and found a lot of rust on the bendix and in the cavity which I think had been making it hard to turn over. (Does anyone know if there is supposed to be any oil or grease in here or is this a dry system?
Shifting into gear is very hard. Does anyone know if there are adjustment points in the throttle control? Or is this the engine/transmission? Or could it be the throttle cables?
Any advise would be a great help!
