Chaparral 183 swim platform

I bought a 2003 Chaparral 183 last summer. I noticed that the swim platform in the back does not have the metal support arms that the new 190s have. I'm a big guy (290 lbs) and I'm wondering if I should order some supports. The dealer said it doesn't need them, but I don't know.
