Just wanted to get some views on how you guys change your oil. What method do you prefer? Pros and cons on hand pumps, electric driven pumps or a drain hose.

Thanks for any feedback :)

YES. that is the following model! Here: http://www.moellermarine.com/aftermarket/maintenance/fluid_extractors/

I went a step further (when I had my engine out) and installed a oil drain hose in the pan and routed the drain-end up to the port riser.

When I change my oil, I just hook the pump above to the end of the hose and do the "15 pumps" and go on to the oil or fuel filter.

After a few min (hot or cold) , the oil is drained..........since it comes out the pan drain, I get it all......no spill'n

Later when I get around to it, I pour it directly into my waste oil furnace tank..........um....I'm a recycling fool!!!!!:p

Cheers,

Rick

Re: Changing your oil Pump or Drain hose?

Ive had good luck with my drain hose, Installed where the drain plug used to be. Also one less oily tool to store. And I M H O I get a more complete drain of dirty oil as I can just let it drip for an hr or overnite if I want while I do other putzn' I run it out the bildge plug hole into my drain pan. I can drain the lower unit at the same time if i so desire. However, lately i have been draining the gear oil into a clear plastic container, then i let it sit over nite so I can inspect the gear oil for settled out water, metal etc...
