Changing thermostat on Merc 4.3 and Perfect seal

Hello,
i need to change my thermostat and found information on manual #25 page 6A-23 that:

IMPORTANT: Gasket has continuity rivets. Do not coat with Quicksilver Perfect Seal,
or Audio Warning Temperature Switch may not work properly.


and below there is an instruction :

5. Coat both sides of new thermostat housing gasket with Quicksilver Perfect Seal and
position on intake manifold.


So, conclusion is to use perfect seal or not?!

The instructions are warning about covering the rivet with PS and isn't saying don't use it. What step 5 should say;

5. Coat both sides of new thermostat housing gasket with Quicksilver Perfect Seal avoiding the rivets and
position on intake manifold.

do they mean the Oring /gasket or the bottom one?
