Okay, so following an earlier discussion, I took Frank's advice and got myself a new old stock Chrysler prop to replace the existing prop.

So, I took off the retaining nut, but I can't figure out how to get the old prop off. I tried gently tapping the hammer on a piece of wood behind the prop but it wouldn't move. Before I do anything more, I thought I'd check here to see if I'm approaching this right. Here's where I'm at:

You know: I'm having a difficulty seeing the prop splines. Is it possible that the joker forced an 18 spline hub onto a 15 spline shaft? After some of the things I have seen, it would not surprise me.

Is it possible that the joker never lubricated the splines? Again, wouldn't surprise me.

At any rate first try wedging a crowbar or tire iron between the back of the prop and the anode (that grey thing that is behind the prop.) If that doesn't work, soak the splines for a couple of days in penetrating fluid. Next try a three jaw puller. It may pull the prop off the rubber hub but that's OK. Once the prop is off the hub you can carefully split the hub with a Dremel.

I use a three jaw puller and adapted chain to it.
I got 3 pieces of chain about 18in. and 3 bolts with nuts.
Loop the chain over the ears and secure.

Some props the chain stays on with no problems.
Others you have to put a big hose clamp on it to hold it in place.
Then spray with WD-40 or PB Blaster.PB works better(my opinion).
Since it's been on there for a while.
You might have to use some heat.

Do NOT heat the prop.
Only apply heat to the end of the prop shaft.
Like Frank said you might pull the prop off the rubber hub.
Too much heat and you'll be replacing seals in the bearing carrier.

Thanks again guys. I'm off to Pennsylvania camping for a week, but will try the above when I get back.
