Would it be that difficult to change out the trim pump valve on this motor without removing the complete pump from the motor? Its leaking down very slowly and I wanted to change it out. Would anthing fall out of it in the upside down position when the valve is removed? (4 line pump valve) thanks for any info.

Post a pic of your unit. They started making changes. We need to know what you have.
You can remove the whole pump and have it serviced while on the motor.
If it leaks down then it probably needs to be rebuilt or replaced.
RRitt rebuilds them.Find a post by him and send a PM.
Just changing the "valve" ??? is not a good idea, have it rebuilt.
They sell new Chineese units.I hear they aren't as good as a RRItt rebuild.J

you do not want to separate motor and valve body while still attached to boat. It is difficult to align armature shaft with gears and tubes nuts with hydraulic ports. Stripped threads, metal shavings, damaged armatures are common. I have to do thread repair on a lot of valve bodies due to this. The armature/gear grinding usually is not fatal. Burrs will prevent armature from seating properly and have to be carefully removed with dremel type rotary tool. Make sure to flush away metal filings if this happens. About two or three times per year I have to fix an armature with a rounded off tip.

better than fixing is not to break it in first place. i have instructions in pdf format but can not figure out how to attach them. bottom line is take the two "down" lines off from engine side and the two "up" lines off from the valve body. Then remove entire pump including the two lines still attached.
