Going to get the swivel bracket changed out on our 2000 Honda 90HP and the mechanic initially said it would be easy. From looking at the shop manuals, it looks easy. Then there is this shifting linkage that runs to the foot through part of the swivel bracket that isn't mentioned in shop manuals. The mechanic gets it and we discuss it. He says the power head has to come off and the bil will go from $250 to $1100+. OUCH!
Has anyone ever changed out the swivel bracket on one of these that can shed some light?
After we remove the tilt tube to take the engine off the transom brackets, do we need to take out that shifting linkage or is there a way to slide the swivel bracket off without taking the whole thing apart?
Thanks for any insights into this.
