Is the oil removed from the dipstick tube? Will the cheaper 12v pump sold here work? Should I change the outdrive oil too? Was not done last fall, still learning here!

The oil is removed thru the dipstick tube. I use a vacuum system, works well, got it at Tractor Supply Company. I have never used an electric system but I believe there are ones out there that work well also. Marine dealers will have them, may be a bit pricey there but usually good quality.

It is a good thing to change the outdrive oil each season if for no other reason than to check for water intrusion.

My photo hosting site evidently is down right now or I would post a pic of the vac system I use.

About any pump will work, just remember to run the engine and warm the oil first, then it will come out easily. Cold oil will burn up the cheaper pumps.
Changing the oil in the drive yearly is as important as the engine oil. You also need to remove the drive and grease the splined shaft and check alignment. Which is actually more important than changing the engine oil each year.
Click on the link below and download the oem owners manual from Volvo. Lots of things you should be doing as maintenance items.
