I have found generic videos of how to change the oil in a Suzi four stroke but no video on this specific engine.

What I am wondering is.....I know the top cowling comes off and that the side cowling apparently has to come off as well so as to get to the oil filter.

I received no tools when I purchased the engine so does anyone know what size allen wrench I need to loosen the screws holding the panel?

And, does the panel come off just on one side or does it come off on both sides?

Thanks....

Did you buy the motor new with any service information in an owners manual?

No outboards come with tools.

Ah, actually they do. Suzuki provides a crappy little tool kit, but it includes a wrench to remove the side cover, if needed, and a metric hex wrench to remove the oil drain plug, But in all honesty, it just takes basic hand tools to do the job. If you don't have the basic tools, you probably should consider having a pro do the work.

My 207 DF140A came with a little black pouch with the Allen Wrench, an 8mm T Handle (for the Mid Covers) a Combo Wrench, Plug Socket, Screw Driver, a couple of Drain Plug Gaskets.
Everything needed to change the Oil.

The Pouch, is shipped loose, so I found mine in my Boat's Glove Box.

On my 2009 90hp Suzuki, I changed my oil for years without realizing the side covers were removable. I drained the oil and then went to the filter. I'd lay down a ton of paper towels to soak up the oil since the filter faces down. I couldn't fathom what idiot dreamed up this setup. Fast-forward to me being bored one night, and I stumbled across a tech taking the side panels off a DF140 and had my ah-ha moment!

I believe there are a series of philips head screws holding the side panels on. They vary in length so either mark them as you remove them, lay them in order of removal, or tape them to a piece of cardboard (like when rebuilding a carburetor). The allen wrench included in your Suzuki tool kit is for removing the oil drain plug. There should be replacement drain plug washers in that kit. If not, got a bunch online or from your local dealer.

When you remove the side panel screws, both panels can be removed at that point. On mine, the panel on the oil filter side also has the button for trimming the motor. As you remove the panel, you'll need to disconnect the plug for the trim button. A second set of hands is best but I've clumsily done it on my own most of the time.

While you have that side cowling off, pull out your grease gun at hit the zerk fitting that is underneath the throttle levers. You can't grease it when the covers are on, so now is the perfect time. Of course, hit all of your zerk fittings at the same time. They are marked in your owners manual. For one you need to trim the motor out.

How much cowling to remove??

I am at the point in time where I want to change the oil in my Suzi DF150.

This will be the first time I have done this with this particular engine. Plus, the closest Suzi engine mech is OVER a three hour drive one direction.

There is one thing I am not sure about. That is, how many plastic coverings do i have to remove?

No doubt the main engine cowling will go and that is an easy handle twist and off she comes exposing the top part of the engine.

Next I need to remove a number of philips head screws and take off the next piece of plastic covering as from what i can tell that is where the oil filter is located.

Now here is where it gets merky for me and i have found nothing that helped in the manual or on the internet.

Do I have to remove the next piece of plastic covering? This is the one with the oil drain plug.

Appreciate any help.

Why did you start another thread? This is the one you started in March about the same issue. It would help if you would reply to a thread you start so we know we aren't spitting into the wind.
