Changing Impeller on Volvo 5.0 Gi

I have a 2000 FourWinns 190 with 5.0 Gi Engine and Volvo outdrive. I plan to change the Impeller before the summer here in Michigan just to be safe. It looks like the impeller is easy to access (fron lower part of the engine). Does anyone have step by step instructions so I don't make any costly mistakes. Also, what is the part # and any recommendations for aftermarket vs. OEM impellers?

The engine Serial number is: 4012008743

phone your local volvo penta dealer, with the serial number, as they have changed the pick-up pump a couple of times. Important to get the right impeller and gasket to match the pump. As far as the step by step process, seloc makes a manual that will walk you thru it. Good luck.

You have a 5.0GIPEFS, you can go to the top of this page and click on Volvo Penta parts to find the parts breakdown for your pump.

Starting on page 10-8 is instructions on replacing the impeller.

After you look at the breakdown for the parts that Don gave you it is what it looks like in the picture just take the 2 bolts off of the bracket and remove, Take the 4 small brass bolts off of the impellar housing and gently work the housing off and there it is. Remove impellar and don't forget the o ring it will come with the new impellar. Good luck and let us know how it comes out Welcome to I boats!
