Changing Gear Ratios

I have a GM IL6 165hp with a pre-alpha 1.65:1 outdrive. I'm having the upper unit replaced with a new Alpha One 1.62:1. Will the change in ratios be enough to need a prop change? Thanks.<br /><br />SB

Only way to know for sure is to do a test run.<br />It depends a lot on where you was in the range before the change.

That's Basicly the Same Ratio,........<br /><br />If you were going to a 1.98/1,.. or 1.50/1,.. or 1.84/1,......<br />That's a Ratio Change...........<br /><br />.03 ratio change,... is about a 1/8th" of prop Pitch..........
