changing gear oil

Hey guy's, my new to me boat need's the gear lube changed, i know the fill is at the top and the drain is at the bottom but does this middle screw mean anything. It's located in the middle of the other two near the water intake. thanks for the time. Girt

If you are talking about that Phillips head screw; it means plenty of trouble if you remove it! That is the pivot screw for your clutch dog bracket. Removing it can cause you plenty of trouble and time trying to line it back so you can shift gears from neutral to forward or reverse. Only remove the slotted screws to change oil and use new washers/o-rings when replacing the screws.

Thank's will, i won't touch that screw. Bhile, fill from the bottom till it comes out the top, is that true, and thank's for the link.

Thats right girt, fill from the bottom and when she starts to ooze out the top, put the vent screw back in first before you pull the filler hose out of the lower.
