I purchased a 2000 boat last year with a 175HP Jet drive. Being new to the boating world I purchased a service manual for this engine. I did the necessary steps for storing the boat.(fogging plugs & carb). The manual also saids to drain & refill the drive housing and stator assembly with Quicksilver HiPo gear lube. My question is can I wait until spring to do this or do I have to do it now before the winter? Thanks. Glenn

Do it now. Old lube can have moisture in it that can corrode your gearcase. New lube when winterizing minimizes chance of this.<br />Also, if you're leaving fuel in it, be sure to add stabilizer, run it through the engine for 10 minutes or so, and top up tank. This minimizes chance of varnish developing in your carb and moisture developing in your tank. Good luck!
