Changing Bolt pattern?

Can I just pull my 4 on 4" hubs and find 5 0n 4.5" that will drop right on with no mods or have I been sniffing glue?

I would like to change the bolt pattern to accomadate switching to aluminum wheels and tires. My trailer came with 5.30x12 steelies and I don't like the look and I have a bent fender and have to change it anyway so...

Thinking dimondplate aluminum fender upgrade as well as increasing to a slightly larger tire/wheel combo. Maybe 175/80r13 or even a lower profile tire on a 14-15" wheel.

Current tires are 22" tall and the 175/80r13 are 24"tall. I have about 3" inbetween the hull and fender so I figured the net gain of 1-2" I might have will be OK. I am thinking of reworking the bunks anyway and that might raise the boat by an inch also.

What do ya think??

Thanks!

Re: Changing Bolt pattern?

I did this exact same thing. Well, except I went from 4.5x5 screw in hubs to a 4 on 4 stud hub for my setup. The axle doesn't care what the bolt pattern is on the rim. All it wants is properly fitting bearings...
