Hello,
I would appreciate any help with the process of dropping the lower unit on my 1996 Yamaha 50 H.P. Tiller outboard to get to the water pump. I have loosened the 4 retaining bolts, and the Anode bolt , but the unit will still not drop down.

Thanks, Jim

'afternoon werbs,

couple of places to look.
Trim Tab bolt may lock into the leg and prevent l/u removal.

Then there's the shift-shaft & shift-shaft-coupler.

If you haven't already got one, you ought to get a service manual. if you can't find one locally, you can order one here at iboats. there's a link in the lower left corner of this page.

let us know how it turns out

Good Luck

There is a bolt under the trim tab.
Loosing the shift-shaft's long nut, and the lower unit drops down.
