a local outboard mechanic tested the stator on my 1993 50 hp force-0e062441- and said 1 side was bad. so I found one on line at franz marine and installed it. still no spark. I really don't know how to proceed from here to test other components without just buying and replacing cdi, rectifier etc. [would be pretty expensive I think] any help would be really appreciated.
Thank you, AL

Test your trigger. If you goto cdielectronics.com it will give you the testing procedure

Disconnect black/yellow wire at the switchbox/ignition module and see if you have spark. If you start the engine with that wire disconnected the key function won't turn it off, you'll have to choke the engine to kill it. Let me know after that test is done.

Or put the wire back on momentarily.

That wire is the "kill wire" from the control box OFF position. It grounds the triggers to stop the engine. Short in the control box ignition switch which happens over time....small metal particles or degradation of the insulating material inside the switch becomes a conductor and shorts ON to OFF, or you have a short in that wire somewhere from the switch to the point where you disconnected it.

I'd go for a new switch. (I just got up, the iboats screen was up, I'm waiting for the coffee to drip. Nothing else to do. Maybe it'll help.)

Thanks you guys. I have done all of the ohm tests on trigger, stator and unplugged kill wire and yellow wires to regulator etc. that you suggested. Still no spark. I am now waiting for a dva adapter that I ordered to check voltage from the stator. Thanks again for the responses

Well, I got a stator to try that came off a running merc 50. and I got a dva adaptor from e-bay, dva worked fine, read 50v on the reds which is good but only 40v on the blues-should be at least 180-400. No Bueno. so now I am ordering a new stator and reg. If this doesn't work, it must be the control box.
