Change Volo controle cable

I need to change the shift control cable.<br />95 Baha, Volo penta i/o, duoprop.<br />Once it is disconected,What is the best way to get it through the transom?<br /><br />Is the shift cover supose to be sealed?<br />I had build up on cable.

Just push the new cable through the hose till it comes out the back of the transom shield. They can be a bit of a pain sometimes to get through the transom shield.<br /><br />Do you have the DP-E style or DP-S style drive.<br /> Volvo Drive ID Chart

Thanks for reply.<br />I think it is the DP-E Definatly not the S.<br />It has a rubber boot type tube on the inside of transom.
