I need to change or have changed my u joint bellow. I am fairly mechanical and work my way around the boat/motor/drive well.

I have gotten several estimates that i am not to thrilled with. VP work book is calling for 2.7 hours for the tech. + $60 bellow = more than i want to spend on this particular job.

I have never done anything like this before. Is this something a regular Joe can do? or is there any special tools tricks needed?

Before you attempt it, get a Volvo drive service manual for your drive. (Volvo #7731624)

IN a nutshell, here is the process.
Drain the gear lube.
Disconnect the helmut bolt (bolts)
Disconnect bellows from upper gear box.
Remove back cover
Disconnect linkage from upper gear box.
Remove 2 nuts and 2 allen attaching bolts holding upper gear box to intermediate housing.
Remove upper gear box (Will need to lift straight up and may need to push splined coupler down into lower section with screwdriver. )
Be very careful and don't get any dirt in the bearing or drive and don't loose any shims.
Replace the bellows and put it all back together with new orings. DO NOT reuse any orings. Use a very thin layer of sealer on mating surface between upper and intermediate hsgs. It's not for sealing as much as
