Change in surgery plans: Update

Good news bad news, the surgery scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled. Why? Because the stress test showed a problem and I have a blockage in blood flow to the heart.
New plan. I'm having a heart cath performed Wednesday to determine the amount of blockage and if necessary have a stint or stints installed.
All of this means the aneurysm repairs have been put on hold.
Thanks to my niece that works at the office that did the stress test to get the doctor to review its results.

Yes, do take care of the heart first. Lots of folks now have stints installed for the exact same reasons. And once they install them, you should be good to go for the other operation. Good catch on the blockage. Just stay positive and once all the procedures are finished, you'll be good as NEW, but without the diapers and baby formula.

A heart cath wasn't as big a deal as I made it out to be. But having a heart condition is or isn't depending on your frame of mind. Not playing doctor here and I don't know how a stress test could really show much, other than something's wrong? but I had severe shortness of breath; chest xray showed fluid in lungs (which indicated congestive heart failure). Heart cath found no blockages, echo-cardiogram showed enlarged heart causing low ejection fraction of %20. Normal for most people is %70 total volume.

Working with two cardiologists and the Heart Failure Clinic adjusting meds, I am doing much better and not scheduled for another echo until December. There IS hope and maybe can go back to work then.
Keep us posted on how you're doing

Actually good that you had the other surgery scheduled. Might not have found this issue until it was too late.

I didn't know I had any "blockage". No shortness of breath, numbing of the extremities,or chest pain. Yes, it's good that this was caught and can be addressed.

I'm back home somewhat early from the hospital. Results could not have been better on the heart cath. Minimal blockage that requires no stents or angioplasty. I'm good to go for the originally planned aneurysm procedure next Thursday the 5th.
It was all your prayers that made this possible.
I'm typing with one hand now as the doc went up through my right wrist as opposed to going through the groin. Have to keep the wrist still for the next 3 to 4 hours.

Tyme, well if they didn't need any stints or angioplasty procedures, then you are in great condition and will have no problems with the operation(s). And that is great news too. :thumb:

Tyme for good news, Tyme. Be happy about the wrist entry. Through the groin is much worse.

Thinking the good thoughts for you, Tyme.
