Change exhaust gaskets for 1964 9.5 Johnson

Are exhauuust gaskets difficult to change for a novice small boat engine owner. I understand car and tractor engines as I have overhauled them. I have a repair manual but I cannot read where they show how to change gaskets.

I would have to think that you'd have to remove the powerhead to access the hardware. That makes it a more difficult job than it would otherwise be. Are you getting exhaust fumes under the hood? If so, check the rubber bellows hose for leaks first.
