Center bearing dowel pin removal

I have a 1978 140h evinrude outboard and need to remove the dowel pin that holds the crankshaft center bearing sleave in place (from rotating on the crankcase). Any ideas on how to do this?

Drill a small hole in it, insert a sheet metal screw, grab with vice grips, pry it out.

Sometimes the dill bit grabs and removes it.
