I think I have a bad CDI on my 130 Ho honda. Does Honda have a core charge for the old CDI.

I had mine replaced 600.00 And the Mechanic didn't want to give me back my old one. He said Honda had a core charge and had to send it back. It through up a red flag because I thought I new better.
Just double checking.

It gets pretty expensive changing parts. Why do you think the CDI is bad, there is no test for it and there are checks to be made to the components it uses. Have you done those? What are the symptoms? I have yet to replace a CDI on a Honda. Reading further, I believe the mechanic saw you coming. Why would he want a used, not functioning CDI? Because as Tohatsu Guru says, Honda has no core charges for those items.
